U.S.S. Vigilance NX - 798

So, this is a potential design I came up with for a class of starship in the 23rd Century in the Star Trek universe (prime). The class of starship was developed in 2223 as Starfleet's next class of deep space exploration vessel, and was the first class of starship capable of warp 7. The ship has 15 decks, is 120m wide, 226m long, and capable of carrying a crew of up to 112. This class of vessel remained in service for over 50 years, and were later re-fitted with experimental technology used on the Constitution class starships. The Vigilance class was decommissioned in the late 2270s.

One of the most notable members of the class was the U.S.S. Zhengjiu, commanded by Captain Forest Fairbourne, which went missing in 2243. The last known report from the Zhengjiu stated that the ship was investigating an unusual energy wave before contact was lost. Starships dispatched to search for the Zhengjiu searched for several months and found no sign of the Zhengjiu, so the ship was declared lost with all hands. Unbeknownst to Starfleet, the Zhengjiu had been carried by the energy wave into a region of space populated by the Chivori, a species who were still recovering from a decade-long colonial war. The ship drifted undetected for years until a group of Chivori refugees found her with her crew dead and most of the ship's systems barely functional. Without informing the colonial council, the refugees decide to salvage the ship and use it to help protect supply ships that are constantly under attack by raiders. But what will Starfleet do when they find out the Zhengjiu is still around?
